May 2008 Student News Letter
As a whole, I'm extremely pleased with your progress. Some of you need to put more time into your practice. So, get your acts in gear and manage your time better! There are one or two of you, who have legitimate justifications for your lack of practice. If you're one of those students -- and you should know who you are -- just do what you can to play when you can.
I don't want to show any favoritism here, so I will write this roster in alphabetical order :-)
Amanda: Now that you have your driving permit, you have risen to a new level of resposibility and it should carry through to your guitar practice time. You have a lot of potential. You'll excel if you do. Congrats on winning the play competition!!
Batsheva: I am so proud of how you're doing. I know your performance in June is going to be excellent.
Chayah: We haven't had too many lessons since March. Try to put timet into practice when you can. You are doing very well.
Gary: Enjoy Israel. When you return, we're going to embark on Rhythm Boot Camp. :-) Your fretboard understanding is excellent and I very pleased with the music you are tackling.
James: Your nemisis is proper fingering. If you can put in more and consistent practice time, your fingering woes will diminish. Stay with it but try to be disciplined about what finger is best to use.
Jason: What a huge improvement you have made since the last Newsletter, in March! Your playing is much more fluid and your reading is much better. Keep up the good work!
Josh: You like the usual classical repetoire and I, for one, am glad. I like your delight in beautiful music. Don't get into a funk. Keep practicing when you can and you'll do just fine.
Lisa: I hope you're practicing when you can. I know you have had a very tough schedule lately, and have had little time to play when you have been home. Try to get back in the routine. You have accomplished so much.
Merav: You're making great progress, considering how recently you began lessons. I love your drive and desire to play well. You're going to be a great guitarist if you remain faithful to practicing correctly.
Michal: I'm enjoying the music we have been working on and you're playing well. Don't neglect your practicing!
Olivia: What a good job you're doing! Now, you're finger picking as well as using a pick. I'm very pleased with your progress. You have a real gift for music.
Omer: As you can see, the more you learn, the more complicated the music becomes -- but it's pretty cool. You're doing excellently! Don't blow out the windows with your new amp!!
Sam O: Between the play and sick family members, I know your time has been limited. Please be disciplined and try to practice when you can. You made a lot of progress that I would hate to see you lose.
Shifra: Although we've missed some lesson, I know you like the guitar and you have great potential. I'm looking forward to you finishing the school year with a bang! I love working with you.
Sibi: Welcome into my schedule! Although you have only had a few lessons, I can see that you are dedicated and are practicing. You have super potential!
Sivan: We're working on some great music. I think we're both enjoying it. We still have a few months before you leave for Israel, so play as often as you can, to achieve your musical goals.
Talia: You're doing fabulously!! Your playing is getting better every week. The only problem is that you don't practice enough each week. A couple days a week isn't enough. You need to try to practice each day, even if you have homework or somewhere to go.
