Lean your body forward slightly to support the guitar against your chest, for the poetry of the music should resound in your heart.

NEW NOTICES

BACK TO SCHOOL MEANS BACK TO LESSONS

If you're one of my students who took the summer off and you haven't heard from me, please call if you'd like to resume lessons. As you know, I could not promise you a spot in my schedule this academic year if you didn't have lessons all summer. I am making an effort to contact everyone, but call ASAP if we haven't yet spoken.

HAVE A GREAT YEAR IN ISRAEL, SIVAN!!

Sivan left the evening of the 1st to spend a year (or maybe more) in Israel. She graduated from high school with honors in June. I know she will be playing her Taylor a lot once she gets setteled.

WELCOME NEW STUDENT JOSEPH

Joseph is a student who has just begun lessons as a beginner a few weeks ago. He's off to a good start.

TAKING TIME OFF?

If you're going to be going away for any extended period, it's time to remind you that I cannot guarantee you will have time the same lesson day and time as when you leave. I cannot guarantee that I will have space in my schedule at all. Over the summer I usually take some new students. I have some attrition with students who move or go off to college. Most of the times the attrition and the new students are about the same, however, if I take on more students over the summer than the number of those who leave, I may not be able to accommodate you. Once you return, resume your lessons ASAP to prevent disappointment later.

While on the subject of canceling guitar lessons, please remember my cancellation policy. When we first began lessons, I informed you that lesson cancellation must be AT LEAST 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson. Lately, I have had a couple students who have not only cancelled the same day, but in one case the same HOUR. Lessons cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled time must be paid for. Of course, when my schedule allows, I will offer to make up the lesson.

May Student Newsletter

LAST CALL FOR TICKETS TO HEAR SHARON ISBIN LIVE, SUNDAY!

If you're anywhere near the NY metro area, get a ticket for Sunday night, May 4, to hear one of the greatest guitarists on the planet (the greatest IMHO) She's playing her Journey to the Amazon program and will be accompanied by some fabulous musicians. I'm going with a friend who is a former student. We heard Sharon premier the program in NY several years ago. We both still love the music and the Amazonian sound.

Welcome MERAV and SIBI!!

I'm so glad to have Merav and Sibi for students. Each has had a few lessons and they are doing very well. Both are model students in their dedication to practicing.

GET TICKETS TO SHARON ISBIN AT BERGEN PAC

She will be performing her Journey to the Amazon music with Paul Winter on the 1st Sunday in May. Sharon is one of the most accomplished guitarists alive. Don't miss the chance to hear her live. Tickets will go fast for this performance.

Welcome BARAK!

I have already worked with Barak's siblings and he is a welcome addition to my schedule.

February Student Newsletter

Welcome ITZHAK and RYAN!

Itzhak is the brother of 2 other students. He's beginning the first week in February, as is Ryan. Ryan knows some of my other students. Both of these fellows are eager to begin. I have great expectations for both of them.

Farewell to Brittany

Unfortunately, Brittany just couldn't put enough time aside for practice. Lessons without practice time lead to stalled, if any, progress and a more and more frustration and sometimes, guilt. I'll miss you Brittany. If your schedule changes, please call.

Happy New Year!!

I'll have a student newsletter done in January. I hope you won't be in the Hall of Shame for missed lessons, not practicing enough or any other dastardly thing.

Christmas Week Schedule

I will not be teaching on December 24, 25, 26, 31 and January 1. If you are not leaving town, I will do everything I can to accommodate you so you can have your lesson. If it's ordinarily on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, we'll see if we can find a mutually convenient time for it.

Welcome New Students JASON, LISA and JOSH 12/7/07

Josh is a teacher who has been working with another instructor in NY but has decided to make a change. He has a little bit of experience and a great lot of desire. Lisa, his sister, is a beginner. She's a mom who wants to play classical guitar. Jason is a beginner with a lot of ambition. He's bright and has great finger control. He has played clarinet and violin.

Welcome Back, AMANDA!!

Amanda had to take some time off and is back now. She "really wants to do this," so I expect great things from her.

Welcome New Students TALIA, BATSHEVA and SIVAN! 11/2/07

Two sisters are the newest students to join my schedule. Sivan began Wednesday and Batsheva will begin this coming Tuesday. Both have played before, Sivan for quite a few years and Batsheva, just a little. Both are delightful and I look forward to working with them. Talia is a young lady who has wanted to play guitar for some time and has been requesting lessons for a long time. She seems adept and she should do very well.

Back from Hershey 10/1/07

There are a few KISSES for everyone this week -- the HERSHEY'S kind. Enjoy! This is the 100th Anniversary of the HERSHEY'S KISS.

Welcome New Students SAMANTHA and HELDER!

Samantha comes from an acting background and she is a singer/songwriter. Helder is a beginner who is highly motivated to progress. They both have great potential and I'm so glad to have them in my schedule.

Get Your Tickets NOW!!!

The Assads will be at the 92nd Street Y, in NY on October 13th. Curtain time (which is funny because they don't have a curtain!!) is 8 PM. [For my Jewish students, I think Shabbat will end about 6:20 PM, so you can definitely make it to the concert, if you plan ahead and can leave your home, or where ever you will be, by 6:30] This is a concert THAT YOU SHOULD NOT MISS. If you get tickets, please let me know so we can meet in the gallery during intermission. I can't wait to hear them.

Temporary Farewell to SCOTT

Scott, I hope you'll see you way back to lessons when work normalizes. You made a great start.

Welcome New Students SHIFRA and OLIVIA

Two new students have joined my students in the past couple of weeks: Olivia and Shifra. Olivia is in elementary school, and very precocious. She is off to a great start. Shifra just began high school and is an enthusiastic, determined girl, who, I am sure will do very well.

GENERAL NOTICES

How to Reach Me

The best way to reach me is via my MOBILE. Call or text me anytime. If you reach voicemail or I don't reply to your text immediately, I will get back to you ASAP. The phone is rarely turned off.

Cut Your Nails!

Please take a good look at your nails the night before a lesson. If your left hand nails aren't as short as they should be, PLEASE CUT THEM. If you play with your right hand fingers, please buff or shape your nails so they are in the best condition and contour for your lesson. Ask me about nail products if you're having any problems with your right hand nails.

General Cancellation Policy

Please notify me AT LEAST 24 hours prior to canceling your lesson, otherwise, your lesson will need to be made up, within 2 weeks. If we cannot find a mutually convenient time for the make up, regrettably, I will require payment. You know I don't wish to be paid for "nothing," so I'll do everything I can to accommodate you in finding a workable make up day & time.

And...Practice!

Your question may be the subject of the next Q's & A;s page post or may suggest a new fyi page article.  E-mail the guitarists you know and encourage them to use this site for the answers to their questions. check the Q's & A's page often.
